Vetiver is a staple in perfumery, playing a key role in men’s fragrances in particular. In mainstream perfumes, however, most of the time, the essence is padded out to tone down its earthy and root-like facets.

While citrus fruits provide top notes, vetiver has a wonderful characteristic: the more the perfume evaporates, the more the colourful, zesty facets of grapefruit are revealed. It’s a very complex essence, which also has earthy, rooty and woody notes that are more or less smoky.”
