In Act III, Scene I, L'Attesa unfolds, capturing the essence of sentimental anticipation before a beloved encounter. It is the olfactory prelude to those magical moments when one prepares for the first meeting—arranging fresh flowers, uncorking a bottle of champagne, and setting the ambiance with music.
For L'Attesa, MASQUE envisioned a signature iris, an unprecedented fusion of iris and champagne. The perfumer, Luca Maffei, artfully blended iris concrete, featuring Florentine Iris Root Butter with a remarkable 15% concentration of irone, lending an elegant, fatty, and powdery character. To amplify the floral elegance, Luca added iris absolute from Florence, providing depth, sillage, and longevity.While iris tends to be a standalone note, Luca balanced its prominence with a background trio of tuberose, ylang-ylang, and sandalwood, enhancing the fragrance's complexity.
In the opening, a champagne accord takes center stage. Instead of focusing solely on the fizzy quality, Luca employed a super-critical CO2 extraction of a blend of fermented beers, capturing the true essence of champagne with notes of bitter hops, animalic nuances, and, most notably, the unmistakable aroma of beer yeast. This unexpected element harmoniously intertwines with the powdery facets of iris, creating a sensory symphony that elevates the anticipation of love.
Top Notes: Italian Bergamot, Moroccan Neroli, Champagne accord.
Heart Notes: Italian Iris abs., Italian Iris Root Butter, French Iris Root Butter, Tuberose abs., Ylang Ylang Madagascar.
Base Notes: Sandalwood Mysore, Oakmoss, Leather accord.
