Act II Scene IIMandala, a fragrance by Masque Milano, is a sensory exploration orchestrated by creative directors Alessandro and Riccardo. If Luci ed Ombre embodied the dance between light and shadow, Mandala seeks to harmonize dual notes in olfactory symphony. Inspired by the mesmerizing overtone singing in a faraway monastery, the fragrance mirrors a meditative, trance-like state. Myrrh and incense take center stage, creating an aromatic tapestry that transcends traditional boundaries.
The collaboration with perfumer Christian Carbonnel adds a unique twist, introducing a kaleidoscope of spices that evokes the immersive experience of agarwood without its literal presence. The opening dazzles with a sweaty, shuddering sensuality, skillfully avoiding the use of agarwood. A steroidal incense work ensues, where myrrh and frankincense collide with explosive energy, masterfully composed by Christian. The initial overwhelming notes gradually harmonize into a single, high-toned accord, blending the myrrh's vegetal bitterness with the ancient Zen of frankincense.
Launched in 2017 alongside Bruno Jovanovic's Times Square, Mandala and its intriguing collaboration showcase Masque Milano's diverse facets, sparking curiosity and intrigue in the vibrant world of perfumery.
